BASKETBALL

The youth basketball program provides children with the opportunity to engage in a variety of recreational and competitive basketball programs. For first and second grade children there is a Saturday morning clinic, which provides instruction in the fundamentals of this sport. First grade children receive instruction from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM and second grade children receive instruction from 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM. This program is held in the Deane Porter all purpose room.

Children in grades three through six play in an in town recreation league. There is one practice during the week with a Saturday game. Children in grades seven and eight play; they do not practice during the season. There is one game per week scheduled for this age group. Depending on the registration counts an open gym may be substituted for a formal team and division play.

For children interested in a more competitive basketball experience there is the Mid-Monmouth Basketball League and Monmouth Youth Basketball League . Children must tryout for these teams. Announcements regarding the tryout times/dates and the grades are done through school.
