Applicants must possess a valid NJ State Driver’s License and a Class B CDL License with manual endorsement is preferred.
Prior experience in Public Works is also preferred.
Parks maintenance experience is a plus. Forty (40) hours per week with full benefits including health, dental, State pension, life insurance and paid time off.
Successful applicant must undergo a background check and drug test prior to appointment.

RUMSON DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
FULL-TIME PUBLIC WORKS MECHANIC

Job Summary
seeking a full-time qualified candidate for the position of Mechanic with the Department of Public Works. 40 hours per week, M-F, full benefits with Health, Dental, State Benefits, Life Insurance, and Paid Time off offered. Must be available for overtime when needed, must possess a valid New Jersey CDL Class B license with Airbrakes or have the ability to acquire within 6 months. Must have own tool set. Formal training and ASE Certifications are a plus.

Duties
-
Diagnosing, repair, and maintenance of all Borough owned equipment, including but not limited to:
-
Police vehicles, fire apparatus, ambulances, pick-up trucks, CDL and non CDL dump trucks, rear loading packers, hook lift trucks, sweeper, wheel loaders, excavator, parks mowers, trailers, outboard marine engines, plows, salt spreaders and small engines equipment.

Possess experience in diesel and gasoline engines, fuel systems, turbos, DEF and emissions systems, transmissions, cooling systems, hydraulic systems, suspension and steering, hydraulic and air brakes, electrical and lighting systems, air conditioning systems, and small engine repair.

Must be proficient in the use of scanning tools and computer software used to diagnose modern, computer-controlled equipment.

Ability to safely use all hand and power tools needed to perform necessary tasks.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
