Project Overview

The Borough of Rumson is moving forward with the West Park / Jumping Point Park Improvement Project; A significant investment in recreation, accessibility, landscaping and waterfront improvements.

The project is supported in part by a $361,817 grant from Monmouth County through its Municipal Park Improvement Program. The Governing Body has awarded the construction contract to Precise Construction Inc., which also completed the Borough’s Meadow Ridge Park improvements.

The final project scope closely reflects the plans presented at the July 1, 2025 public hearing, with adjustments made based on community feedback and final engineering review.

Project Improvements

Planned improvements include:

• New curbing and sidewalk along Ward Avenue.

• A new asphalt walkway through the north side of the park.

• Enhanced waterfront access, including a seating wall and walkway along the bulkhead.

• Replacement of the existing playground with brand-new play equipment.

• New landscaping and tree plantings throughout the park.

• New benches, picnic tables, bike racks and a water fountain/bottle-fill station.

• Refurbishment of the bulkhead railing and cleat benches.
  

Bridge-Related Improvements

The Borough’s park improvements are separate from remaining contractual obligations associated with the Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge project. The Borough continues to coordinate with Monmouth County Engineering staff regarding outstanding work by R.E. Pierson, including fencing, handrails, bulkhead railings and other punch-list items.

Conditions permitting, construction is anticipated to begin fall 2026.

For public safety, active construction areas will be closed to the public while work is underway. The Borough appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as these important improvements move forward.
