< Back Frequently Asked Questions What is a Mulch Volcano? What is the difference between the STC and Tree Conservation? The Shade Tree Commission's mission embraces tree conservation, and is more than just tree conservation. The Rumson Shade Tree Commission promotes "Right Tree, Right Place" as a means to develop a thriving tree resource in the borough. This simply means that trees need space to grow both above and below ground. Choose a tree where the ultimate height and spread will not conflict with pedestrians, vehicles, utility lines nor buildings. Previous Next

  • West Park/Jumping Point Park Improvement Project

The project will be completed in two phases as construction is completed over the next 12 to 18 months.  < Back West Park/Jumping Point Park Improvement Project The project will be completed in two phases as construction is completed over the next 12 to 18 months. Project Overview The Borough of Rumson is developing a project to improve the use of the existing Borough owned West Park. As the new Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge construction comes to an end, the Borough is going to take advantage of Monmouth County Park’s Green Acres Open Space Grant (MCOS) Program’s funding cycle and apply for funding to rehabilitate both north and south sides of the park. The project will be completed in two phases as construction is completed over the next 12 to 18 months. The 5.72-acre park (2.85 acres north of Rumson Road, and 2.87 acres south of Rumson Road) currently has a significant landscaped area that has been completely altered by ongoing construction for the Replacement of Bridge S-32 (CR 520 – Rumson Road) over Shrewsbury River. The new plan includes updated playground equipment as well as site improvements which include: New landscaping. Additional walkways. The plan also includes planting and replacing trees impacted during construction on both the north and south side of the park. The site is the main entrance into the Borough of Rumson from Sea Bright, and is adjacent to the local West Park section of the Borough of Rumson. It is an ideal, highly accessible, convenient location for an updated playground and would be a significant improvement to the adjoining local neighborhood. The Borough is requesting the full $500,000 Monmouth County Open Space Grant to help fund the approximately $900,000 project. The Borough anticipates construction on Phase One (south side of the park) to begin in spring 2026.
